The Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) is pleased to announce the first annual RCMRD International Conference. The conference will be held from 27th to 29th September 2017, in Nairobi, Kenya. The goal of the conference is to create a platform for exchanging ideas on the application of earth observation information and geo-spatial technologies for societal benefit.
The three-day conference is open to persons from all over the world, companies, industries, research institutions, individuals, government representatives, students, policy makers, developers, opinion leaders and academicians.
The conference will consist of sessions for plenary talks from distinguished scholars and professionals in applications of earth observation information for societal benefit, oral and poster presentations in a number of thematic areas, and exhibitions, all aimed at sharing information and building networks on the uptake and use of geo-information in development decision making.
There is need to strengthen existing policies or establish new ones to facilitate utilization of these products and services of Earth Observation. The key focus of the day will be to increase awareness of EO technologies at policy level and identify gaps that hinder institutions to utilize these products and services.
The key focus of the day will be highlighting strategies to build the capacity of analysts and decision makers in government, civil society groups, and the media to integrate geospatial and Earth observation data, and technologies into their analysis, policy, planning, management, and communications.
The key focus of the day will be to strengthen existing networks between stakeholders and research institutions to find innovative approaches of developing products, tools and services that can address evolving development challenges.
