Weather and Climate

Institutions in sub-Saharan Africa face many challenges in integrating climate information to inform policy making in the management of natural resources, and reducing disaster risks. Over the years, it has become increasingly important for policy makers to develop strategies for mitigating and adapting to climate change.

Participants are encouraged to submit abstracts which address the following topics:

  • Climate-induced hazards mapping and vulnerability assessment
  • Integration of remote sensing and GIS for predicting, monitoring and responding to hydro-meteorological extremes.
  • Climate Change modelling
  • Early Warning systems
  • Monitoring and managing meteorological disasters
  • Disaster risk management
  • Disaster risk reduction (DRR)
  • Weather analysis and forecasting
